Fantasy Baseball Wrap-Up: Week 16

Andy Pettitte

In the new look of the Wrap-Up, I will highlight the hot and cold players at each position. Why hear about how good the stud players are already doing when you can find out how well the widely available players are performing on the diamond? As always, let’s start with the list of key injuries.

Injuries

Magglio Ordonez (RF), Detroit Tigers

Over this past weekend, Magglio fractured his right ankle and it will keep him out for 6-8 weeks. Even more damaging was that he will fail to make his contractually obligated number of plate appearances for the past two seasons and will miss out on his $15 million option for next year.

Andy Pettitte (SP), New York Yankees

Pettitte’s career year at the age of 37 came to a screeching halt as he left the July 18th game with a groin pull. As it turns out, the groin strain will sideline him for 4-6 weeks.

Ben Sheets (SP), Oakland A’s

Ah yes is this Mr. Robert Ripley? Ok, well, you aren’t going to believe this! Ben Sheets is once again on the DL, this time, the $10 million man has elbow soreness and reports indicate he will miss a significant amount of time. Sheets is seeking a second opinion.
