Red Sox Designate Jeremy Hermida For Assignment

According to the lovely and talented Heidi Watney of NESN, the Red Sox have designated outfielder Jeremy Hermida for assignment.

Hermida has battled injuries this season, including a trip to the disabled list, after an on-field collision earlier this year with Adrian Beltre. He’s only hitting .203 with five HRs and 27 RBI.

The move makes room for the returning Mike Lowell or incoming top prospect Ryan Kalish. The Red Sox usually get busy right at the deadline, so we’ll see where they go from here.
