In the new look of the Wrap-Up, I will highlight the hot and cold players at each position. Why hear about how good the stud players are already doing when you can find out how well the widely available players are performing on the diamond? As always, let’s start with the list of key injuries
Injuries
Kevin Youkilis (1B), Boston Red Sox
Uh-Oh! One of the best sources of offense at first base left Monday’s game against Cleveland and as it turns out, he is headed to the DL with a muscle tear in his thumb.
Ryan Howard (1B), Philadelphia Phillies
Sprained ligaments in Howard’s ankle have landed him on the DL. Howard tried sliding into 2nd base on Sunday and the decision has cost him. Howard leads the league with 81 RBI.
Carlos Santana (C), Cleveland Indians
Not only a great guitarist…oh sorry, wrong Carlos Santana. The much-hyped rookie suffered a nasty knee sprain while blocking home plate on Monday against Boston. He was carted off the field and placed on the DL.
