Patriots, Gostkowski Agree on Contract Extension

The Patriots have had trouble even communicating with offensive lineman Logan Mankins, and it appears that both sides may never reach a deal. Some have suggested Mankins may even sit out the entire season instead of sign the restricted free agent tender.

If he was angry before, he’ll be furious now.

The Patriots locked up their kicker…yes, kicker Stephen Gostkowski, until 2014 for $14 million. He will make $1.759 million, and the extension will kick in next season.

Gostkowski isn’t just any kicker, he’s one of the best in the NFL, and maybe the best in Patriots history. Adam Vinatieri, eat your heart out! He replaced Vinatieiri after the veteran signed with the Colts in 2006.

The fourth round pick has hit 103 of 121 career field goals, good for an 85.1% accuracy rating. That mark is the best in team history. He’s also missed just one extra point in his career.
