During the Lions’ annual Thanksgiving loss, quarterback Shaun Hill claimed that during a quarterback sneak near the goal line in the 2nd quarter, someone on the Patriots’ defense tried to break his arm in the pile. Hill claims that someone tried to re-break his non-throwing arm, originally injured earlier in the season against the Giants.
“That’s why I eventually gave up the ball,” Hill said. “Somebody was down there [in the pile] literally trying to break my arm, which is already broken. Literally, trying. And, uh, y’know, I guess [it] wasn’t seen [by officials].”
The Patriots had no comment. Hill was in for Matthew Stafford, who has a shoulder injury. The Lions rushed for a one-inch touchdown on the next play. Not that we don’t believe Hill, but all that weight on top of a player in piles can put pressure on a nagging injury, if nothing was done purposely.
