Shawn Thorton and 15 other Bruins took part in the fourth annual “Cuts for a Cause” Thursday at Ned Devines in Boston. Winning bidders were able to shave their favorite Bruin’s head in front of a huge audience.
Shawn Thorton, Dennis Seidenberg, Tyler Seguin, Patrice Bergeron, Milan Lucic, Zdeno Chara, Andrew Ference, Chris Kelly, Rich Peverley, Nathon Horton, Adam McQuaid, Steve Kampfer, Brad Marchand, Daniel Paille, David Krejci and even the ageless Shane “The Sheriff” Hnidy all had their heads shaved to raise money for Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center.
Adam McQuaid, who had been growing his hair out all year for the event, had his hair shaved into a mullet that only ESPN’s hockey analyst Barry Melrose could appreciate.
Players who did not participate in the event donated $400 each, just for the cause.
The event was co-hosted by 98.5 The Sports Hub morning personalities Toucher and Rich, who also had their heads shaved. Toucher and Rich put on a great show for the fans and couldn’t have done a better job.
At the end of the day, $42,722.35 was raised for the Boston Bruin’s Foundation.
Boston truly has some of the most loyal, passionate fans in the world, and certainly the most caring.
