Computer Sim Picks Bruins to Win Stanley Cup

Can the Bruins finally hoist another cup? The computers think so. (legendsofhockey.net)

Computer simulations from whatifsports.com have picked the Bruins to win the Stanley Cup, barely edging out the Vancouver Canucks. Boston is picked to go through Montreal, Pittsburgh and Philadelphia before edging out Vancouver in seven games.

Notable upsets in the simulation, run 1001 times, include New York over Washington and Phoenix over Detroit. In addition to the upsets, Boston is picked to sweep Montreal, the only sweep in the tourney. In fact, Boston is pegged to beat Montreal 96.30% of the time, and Montreal is the least likely team to win the cup.

I guess you could call this rather good news for a Boston team that doesn’t want’ to be reminded about last year. If Boston is to fulfill the prophecy and win the title, they’ll need to play a lot harder, step up the defense and really pick up the offense, not giving anyone else a chance to get back into the game.
