Dolphins wide receiver Brandon Marshall was hospitalized and is in intensive care after a stab wound to his stomach, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports. Marshall’s wife, Michi Nogami-Marshall, has been arrested and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon in connection with the stabbing. She remained in jail Saturday morning.
“This is a very difficult time for Brandon and family, thankfully he will make a full recovery,” Marshall’s agents, Kennard McGuire and Harvey Steinberg, said in a statement. “We simply ask that his privacy is respected.”
No vital organs were pierced in the stabbing, and doctors said Marshall should be fine in the next 2-3 weeks. Still, it may be a while before he’s in football shape again (in my opinion, though I’m no doctor).
Last season, Marshall finished with 86 catches for 1,074 yards and 3 touchdowns for the Dolphins.
If the NFL lockout continues, Marshall said he will pursue an NBA career. But, assuming the league and player’s union can figure things out in time, the Dolphins and Patriots are set for a Monday night showdown in Week 1.
According to the ESPN report, Marshall has been arrested numerous times, including for “disorderly conduct, drunken driving, and a number of incidents of alleged domestic violence.”
