Video: Steve Downie Won’t Be Punished For Hit On Johnny Boychuk

Tampa Bay’s Steve Downie (again, no relation) will not be fined or suspended for his questionable hit on Bruins defenseman Johnny Boychuk in Game 5, according to TSN’s Bob Mackenzie.

Boychuk was behind the Bruins net and just passed the puck when the approaching Downie finishing his check, crushing him into the boards. Boychuk’s head hit the glass, and he had to be helped off the ice. After the game, Claude Julien said Boychuk should play in Game 6. As we now know, Downie will too.
