2011 Celtics Free Agent Reports: Arroyo, Murphy, Pavlovic, Wafer

Perhaps the guys who are in limbo the most are the guys who saw little to no time. Carlos Arroyo, Troy Murphy and Sasha Pavlovic were all mid-season pick-ups and all three will most likely not be returning to the Celtics next year.

Von Wafer, on the other hand, has a chance to be back in Boston. Wafer showed at times that he can come in and provide a spark off the bench.

Carlos Arroyo

Arroyo only appeared in 15 games for the Celtics averaging 2.4 points in just over 12 minutes of play. Arroyo’s contract was dirt cheap at $407,772. Despite the fact that the Celtics could sign Arroyo for little to no money, I don’t expect him to return. The first reason being they have to resign Delonte West who is also a free agent. The second reason being Avery Bradley will be on the Celtics roster this season and grab some minutes. The Celtics are not going to sign a guy who would be their fourth point guard.

Probability of return: 0%

Troy Murphy

A lot was made when Troy Murphy decided to sign with the Celtics instead of the Heat. Looking back on it now, we see that Troy Murphy was a non-factor on the Celtics. Murphy only appeared in 17 games, averaging 2.6 points and 2.2 rebounds in 10 minutes of play. Troy Murphy hasn’t had a good season since 2009 when he was with the Pacers and more importantly, he has only played in 35 games the past two years.

Probability of return: 0%

Sasha Pavlovic

Sasha Pavlovic will not be returning to the Celtics. He played in only 17 games and averaged 1.8 points a game. Celtic fans have a better chance seeing Troy Murphy back than Sasha Pavlovic.

Probability of return: 0%

Von Wafer

Von Wafer appeared in 58 games for the Celtics averaging 3.2 points a game. Von Wafer is a decent bench player who can provide a spark for them from time-to-time. Unfortunately for Wafer, most people remember him for missing a dunk against the Wizards and then posing afterwards. With that said, the Celtics could bring him back for around $1 million a year.

Probability of return: 30%
