Tim Thomas isn’t afraid defend his turf. You may remember his check on Henrik Sedin in Game 3. In Game 4, he took it to a whole new level.
Pest Alex Burrows, who famously bit Patrice Bergeron and was not punished for it, was in front of the net on a Canucks power play late in Game 4. The Canucks were already down 4-0 (and lost by that score), so he may have been frustrated. It doesn’t condone his actions, though.
Burrows took his stick and hacked at Thomas’s stick while the puck was behind the net, temporarily jarring it loose. After the puck got cleared away, Thomas slashed Burrows in the leg, starting an all-out brawl in front of the net.
Dennis Seidenberg, Zdeno Chara, and others came to the rescue of their goaltender.
