In a bit of a shake-up to the AL All-Star roster, Red Sox 3B Kevin Youkilis was named to the team as a replacement for Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez who declined to play in the Midsummer Classic due to a knee injury.
Youkilis is having a solid season hitting .275 with 12 HR and 59 RBI. This will mark his 3rd appearance at the All-Star Game and his first since 2009.
Also worth noting is that Yankees SS Derek Jeter has also pulled out of the game due to injury and was replaced by Tigers SS Jhonny Peralta (first appearance).
Cleveland SS Asdrubel Cabrera will now start at SS for Jeter and former Boston 3B and current Ranger, Adrian Beltre, will get the start at third.
