It’s called Friendly Fenway Park for a reason: fans are supposed to go out to the ballpark to enjoy a family-friendly atmosphere.
Those who actually attend games know that’s not at all true. Need proof that it’s not really family friendly? Did you see last Thursday’s Sox-Orioles game on NESN?
After Jerry Remy finished reading a promo before the top of the third inning, he commented that there was a “couple of nice couples” enjoying the game. Moments after his comment, one of the fans reached over and “stole second base.” He grabbed his girlfriend’s boob, prompting Jerry to say “oops.”
Jerry and Don Orsillo lost it and weren’t able to compose themselves.
“This used to be a family show!” Don said as he attempted to call Nick Markakis’s at-bat.
Thanks to reader Dev who pointed this out to me. No, I have no idea how I missed this and didn’t hear about it until now. Good find!
