The Bruins have re-upped their tough-as-nails third line defenseman, Adam McQuaid, to a three-year extension that will keep him in Boston through the 2014-2015 season.
The mullet-toting McQuaid scored three goals and tallied 14 assists in 67 games this season. He finished with a +30, which was fifth best in the NHL and best among rookies.
During the run to the Stanley Cup, he helped anchor the third line of the defense with Tomas Kaberle, accumulating four points and 14 penalty minutes in 23 games.
Next season, McQuaid may be paired with newcomer Joe Corvo on the defense, but those lines could be tinkered with by Claude Julien.
