Marchand Signs Two-Year Deal With Bruins

Brad Marchand Signs New Deal With Bruins (AP Photo/Elise Amendola)

It was never really in question, but Wednesday afternoon the Bruins announced a new 2-year deal with restricted free agent right winger Brad Marchand. Early reports seem to indicate Marchand will make $2 million in the 2011-12 season and $3 million in 2012-13.

Marchand has been in Boston working out with his teammates for some time now, so this deal shouldn’t come as a shock to anyone. It is a little interesting that the deal took this long to complete, especially when the numbers match up with what most NHL insiders predicted he would make all along. But now that Marchand is back ‘officially’ it appears as though the Bruins roster is set for this upcoming season.

Looking Ahead

Joe Haggerty of CSNNE reported yesterday that the Bruins were talking to 1st Line Center David Krejci about a potential contract extension. Krejci is the final piece of this core yet to sign a long-term deal with the team.
