2011-2012 NHL Expert Picks

With Winnipeg back in the NHL, will the rest of the league be on notice? (http://www.stuffsingledudeslike.com)

The NHL season is upon us already, and the Bruins are ready to start their title defense. And Winnipeg is back in the NHL after Atlanta relocated. They’ll be in the Southeast this year until the NHL decides on how to realign the league. So it’ll be interesting to see how the new travel routes affect all the teams.

With the new season here, us here at Sports of Boston have brought you our selections for said season in the latest NHL Pick ‘Em. No New York writers are joining us this time, probably because they’re boycotting the champions from Boston. The Bruins and Capitals are popular picks, but the dangerous Canucks still have the most votes of confidence. Unlike the new Winnipeg Jets and the cellar dwelling Oilers, mind you.

In this competition, each panelist gets one point for correctly guessing a team to make the playoffs, or two points for successfully guessing a division winner. Guessing the President’s Trophy Winner for the NHL’s best team is worth two points. As for the fun part, correctly guessing the #1 seed in each conference exactly is worth eight points, then seven points for the #2 seed and so on. The tiebreaker is guessing which team will be the NHL’s worst, then second worst, then third.

So with all the basics covered, all that’s left to do is watch the season. So have fun watching the Bruins defend their title, and check below for the full set of picks.
