Theo Epstein Spotted at Chicago Starbucks?

If you choose to believe lifelong Cubs fan Noah Pinzur, then the Red Sox may be in the market for a new general manager as well as a manager.

Pinzur said he’s 99.9% sure he saw Theo Epstein at a Starbucks in Chicago on Saturday morning, according to the Chicago Tribune. Epstein, or his look-a-like, was the passenger in a Honda SUV that pulled up in front of the coffee shop. He got out and got in line. Pinzur couldn’t believe his eyes.

“Excuse me,” he said. “Are you Theo Epstein?”

“No,” replied Epstein, or the Epstein lookalike. “I get that a lot.”

After a brief pause, the real or fake Epstein added: “Who is Theo Epstein?”

Pinzur replied: “He’s the guy who may become general manager of the Cubs, or at least we hope.”

The Bizarro Epstein grabbed a banana for himself and an iced coffee for his “female companion.” Pinzur Googled what Theo’s wife Marie Whitney looks like, and he’s convinced that Whitney is that female companion. Pinzur added that the SUV took off in the direction of Wrigley Field.
