Rob Lowe, the number once source for all your sporting news.
Who knew?
Around 3:15 Wednesday afternoon, actor Rob Lowe dropped a bomb on the sports world.
He was the first to report that Colts quarterback Peyton Manning will be announcing his retirement from professional football today.
He took to Twitter to break the shocking news!
Shortly after the troubling tweet, ESPN’s Chris Mortensen tweeted that he heard from Peyton’s father Archie Manning, who said, “Noooo…he ain’t retiring. I think he would’ve told me.”
But Rob Lowe said it was true! Well I guess this is why Lowe’s an actor and not a reporter.
WEEI decided to have a little fun with the Rob Lowe rumor mill, asking followers to Tweet some other silly rumors and just hash tag #RobLoweScoop.
Fans didn’t disappoint. They tweeted everything from Tim Tebow converting to Judaism to Tom Brady being traded for a pair of fuzzy uggs to the famous Citgo sign by Fenway Park being changed to a giant bucket of chicken.
My personal favorite was the tweet that said
“Dwight Howard traded to Boston for Greg Stiemsma straight up #RobLoweScoop”
Ok, yea maybe that was mine.
Either way, thanks Rob for some good laughs and a little fun, but next time maybe check your sources.

Considering Lowe is close friends with the Colts owner Jim Irsay, he probably knows more about whats going on with the Colts than you do. Its going to be fun watching you eat your words.
He’s already wrong. Peyton didn’t retire yesterday and I’d hope his Dad would know if he was planning on it.
