Fenway Park Fire Causes $100,000 in Damage

Fenway Park Fire (Photo from the Boston Fire Department on Twitter)

In what may seem like a metaphor for the past few tumultuous months in Red Sox Nation, Boston firefighters had to put out a small fire at Fenway Park, of all places, on Monday morning.

Crews contained the fire to a mail room on the second floor in the administrative office area before 11:30 a.m.

No one was injured.

Fire officials said the cause of the fire was an electrical short circuit near a wall-mounted light fixture.

Damage to the park was estimated at $100,000…or 0.6% of John Lackey’s 2012 salary ($15.25 million).

Yikes.
