Miami Heat Win NBA Finals, Set Up Potential Dynasty

The Miami Heat crushed the Oklahoma City Thunder, 121-106, to win the NBA Finals Thursday. LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh all played great, but it was Mike Miller who sparked the Heat’s fire in Game 5.

Miller came off the Heat bench for 23 points on 7-for-11 shooting in 23 minutes of playing time. LeBron won the NBA Finals MVP and had a triple-double with 26 points, 13 assists and 10 rebounds.

The Thunder were led by a 32 point and 11 rebound effort from Kevin Durant but their energy and execution were just not there in Game 5.

The Heat tied the NBA record for most three point field goals in NBA Finals history and shot 56 percent from deep. Meanwhile, the Thunder shot just 40 percent from the field as a team.

What it Means for the Celtics?

The dynasty Miami’s Big Three promised when they united is now underway. The Celtics now have their work cut out for them as they look to rebuild around Rajon Rondo.┬áThe Celtics will have to hope for the best with their late first-round draft picks and NBA free agency over the coming offseasons. If Derrick Rose comes back healthy from knee surgery, the Chicago Bulls will present a challenge to the Heat, as will the Indiana Pacers. If the Celtics can convince Kevin Garnett to resign for one more go around, they might be in the mix as well, but look for the Heat to continue to be the perennial favorites as long as their core is in tact.
