Wally The Green Monster Costume Stolen

UPDATE: A team employee took the Wally costume away from Fenway Park without authorization, and a security employee called police to report it stolen.

The employee will not face charges.

“Never fear Red Sox Nation: Wally is safe and on his way back to Fenway Park,” the Red Sox said in a Tweet.

Have you seen Wally the Green Monster walking around Boston? If so, you may have been looking at the suspect in a theft.

Boston police said the theft happened at around 2:30 p.m. Friday near Boylston and Dartmouth Streets.

Police said the suspect is likely now wearing the costume.

Wally has been the Red Sox mascot since 1997.

P.S. – This is not a joke…well, at least I don’t think it is.
