Red Sox outfielder Ryan Sweeney has single-handedly (pun intended) wiped out any trade value he had by engaging in a boxing match with a dugout door at Fenway Park.
The door won.
Sweeney will miss the next eight weeks to recover from a likely broken hand.
“I Just want to apologize to my teammates, #RedSox, and fans,” he wrote on Twitter. “I don’t normally [lose] my cool and this was not an intentional action.”
The Red Sox called up Ryan Kalish to take Sweeney’s place.
