After enough waiting, the 2012-2013 NFL season is finally upon us. The replacement refs will start the season for awhile, which should shake things up a bit to begin the season. The season is now beginning with the defending champion Giants hosting arch rivals Dallas. It should be an exciting season as always, but for now, it’s time to bring you the annual SoB Pick ‘Em for the 2012-2013 season.

As usual, every one of our writers that correctly picks a team to make the playoffs earns one point, or two points for correctly picking a division winner specifically. Correctly picking the #1, #2, … #6 seeds in each conference is worth six, five, … one point respectively. Correctly guessing the top team in the NFL overall is worth two points.

If any writers finished tied, the tiebreaker will be applied in the following order:

Picking the team with the NFL’s worst record
Picking the team with the NFL’s second-worst record
Picking the team with the NFL’s third-worst record
The total number of correct guesses for the worst three teams in any order
The lowest combined winning percentage of the selections for the three worst teams

The Patriots are once again chosen as the consensus #1 team, with the ever-dangerous Packers not far behind. The Saints’ bounty scandal has cost them votes, with the Falcons taking advantage. The Broncos are not surprisingly getting plenty of attention from Peyton Manning, while the Bears and Cowboys are also getting some selections.

As for the tiebreaker, the Jaguars and Browns are getting plenty of votes, as much as they would prefer otherwise. Some are still pessimistic about St. Louis, while other teams towards the top of the draft order are still up in the air.

Wow, no one picked the Jets to make the playoffs. They add Tim Tebow and fall that far?
