BREAKING: Lakers Fire Mike Brown

All it took was a 1-4 start for the Lakers to part ways with their Head Coach. USA Today reports that the Lakers have fired Mike Brown.

The team has been without Steve Nash for the past two games, and Dwight Howard, though playing, is still working his way back into shape after having offseason back surgery. Much has been made of the Lakers lack of depth on their bench, but it is obvious now that Lakers’ management had seen Brown as part of the problem. One has to wonder how much influence Kobe Bryant had in this decision.

No announcement has been made as to who will replace Brown, but speculation is that former Suns and Knicks Head Coach, Mike D’Antoni, is strongly in the running. The Lakers play Golden State tonight and it seems likely either assistant coach Bernie Bickerstaff or Check Person will assume the interim duties.

It doesn’t matter if you’re a Celtics fan, a Knicks fan, or a fan of any other team with title aspirations, it’s quite fun when the Lakers are a mess.
