According to ESPN, an unknown Kansas City Chiefs player has committed suicide at the team facility in Arrowhead Stadium.

The player reportedly fatally shot his girlfriend before driving to the stadium and killing himself.

The player’s identity has not been released. Early reports suggested the player was linebacker Jovan Belcher (who has been declared dead on his Wikipedia page), but nothing has been confirmed yet.

The Chiefs have several connections to New Engaland.

Romeo Crennel, the former Patriots defensive coordinator, is the team’s head coach. Former Patriots QB Matt Cassel is the team’s starting quarterback (usually), and former Patriots executive Scott Pioli is the team’s lead executive of football operations.
