Rajon Rondo was suspended one game without pay this afternoon by the NBA for, “making contact with an official and failure to cooperate with a league investigation.” Rondo bumped into an official after a controversial offensive foul call during the second half of Saturday night’s game against the Atlanta Hawks.
At the time of the bump, Rondo was not whistled for a technical, which makes the NBA’s decision to suspend him at least a little surprising. Rondo’s reputation gained by past incidents with referees and opposing players, coupled with whatever it was he did to not cooperate with league officials, surely influenced the NBA’s decision in this matter.
Rondo will serve his suspension tonight during a crucial match-up with division rivals, the New York Knicks. Jason Terry will get the start in his place. The video of the incident is below.
