Now that the Ravens are heading to the Super Bowl, we are probably going to hear about Ray Lewis’s retirement for two weeks now. The legendary Ravens linebacker announced before the playoffs that this would be his last season in the NFL, so with the Super Bowl as his final game, media outlets will be sure to hype up Lewis and the Ravens as much as possible.
Count Wes Welker’s wife Anna Burns as one of those who is not in a hurry to celebrate Ray Lewis’s career.
Shortly after the game, Welker’s wife took to Facebook (click on the image to see the full screenshot):
“Proud of my husband and the Pats. By the way, if anyone is bored, please go to Ray Lewis‘ Wikipedia page. 6 kids 4 wives. Acquitted for murder. Paid a family off. Yay. What a hall of fame player! A true role model!”
Anna is of course referring to Lewis’s indictment on murder charges in connection with the stabbing deaths of two men the night before the Super Bowl after the 1999 season. The following year, of course, the Ravens won the Super Bowl and Lewis was named Super Bowl MVP.
She also remarked that Lewis also does have six children by four different women. While his kid/wife ratio isn’t close to as bad as Travis Henry or Antonio Cromartie, it’s certainly not something to be proud of.
