Rajon Rondo Torn ACL – Out for Season

Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo has a torn ACL in his right knee and will be out for the remainder of the season.

Rondo had been diagnosed with a hyperextended right knee, an injury he suffered in Friday’s game against the Hawks, but had knee pain during morning shootaround Sunday before the game against the Heat. Rondo then underwent an MRI at a Boston hospital, where it was confirmed he had a torn ACL in his right knee.

Courtney Lee started at point guard in Rondo’s place on Sunday.

The Celtics, who are 20-23 heading into Sunday’s contest, most certainly will have a difficult time making the playoffs this season.

Rondo averaged 13.7 points, 11.1 assists and 5.6 rebounds per game this season.
