Connelly’s Top Ten: Bad Weekend for Boston Sports

1. Red Sox:

Sox are 6-9 against teams over .500 / 14-2 against teams under .500

2. Celtics:

Paul Pierce’s last Celtic series / game

* Game 6 – 1-9 shooting first half / 6 turnovers /

* Series – 36% from the field / 27% from three point land / 32 turnovers / 2-16 from three point land in the last three games

3. Patriots:

* Interesting comparison of Patriot free agent TJ Moe to Wes Welker: “He ‘strong – he’s white”

* I’m a huge Moe fan (but not as much on the Three Stooges – I thought Larry was the best then Curley)

* The words from Aaron Dobson were un-Patriot like: “I’m here to make my own mark, make my own name.”

4. Bruins:

* Can’t let Kessel score

* Jagr MINUS 2

* How long do you go with Rask?

5. Sox Minor Leagues:

Pawtucket and Portland are 35-21

6. Celtics in OT:

C’s are 147-100 in one overtime games / 21-15 in two overtimes / 3-1 in triple overtimes

7. NBA MVP Voting 1985-1986 :

1. Larry Bird

2. Dominique

3. Magic

4. Hakeem

5. Kareem

13. Kevin McHale

18. Dennis Johnson

8. Old School:

Rick Wise in 1975: 19-12 / 3.95 ERA / 17 complete games / 8th Cy Young / 26th MVP / 2-0 postseason

9. Just a little Bit Outside:

* From Kevin Paul Dupont Sunday: “Three best days of boat ownership: third the day you buy it / second – day you sell it / first – day terrorist punk climbs aboard, sails up river to life sentence

* Went down to the Marathon memorial across from the Library – very powerful experience. Glad it hasn’t rained it a while leaving a lot of the notes and paper to read
* Every student on student visa not enrolled right now has gone out and bought a box of depends
* Dump him in the ocean – if his family doesn’t want him why do we?

10. Randomocity:

* Underrated run in rock and roll – Peter Frampton

* From ESPN – Mint Juleps at Churchill Downs cost $11

* Falmouth is considering paying $14,000,000 to take down their wind turbine

  1. Aaron Dobson will make a big impact on NE in 2013 and beyond.

    Will Doubront make it through the entire year?

    Orioles are the team to beat in the AL East.

    Astros are pathetic. Worst baseball team I have ever seen (I’m 41).

    Time for Ainge to tear it down. Will Doc hang around for the rebuilding of the green?

    Send KG to the Clippers.

    Back-up point guards for Ainge is shortstops for the Red Sox.

  2. I’m getting tired of some aspects of the “Patriot way”. If the Pats get an actual deep-threat, expand the field WR that says “give me the damn ball”, i’m fine with that. the dink-and-dunk is not working anymore, particularly in crucial close and late situations.

    the key for the sox will be to continue to get strong pitching / health. also, pedroia… no HRs out of 3rd spot? yikes.

    not worried on Bs yet. I didn’t think any of those goals were Rask’s fault… let’s also not forget that absurd scrum in which Rask made a save with his a$$! the problem the other night… as is problem on most given nights… they CANT score! they routinely whip shots wide and high of the net (seguin is most egregious).
