Connelly’s Top Ten: Wow! Special Boston Sports Moment – Enjoy!

1. Bergeron:

Is Patrice Bergeron approaching a career in which his number is retired? (I admit that I said he was overpaid three years ago)

2. Faceoffs:

Wow! 43 to 18

* Bergeron won 16 out of 22
* Peverley won 7 of 9
* Kelly won 6 of 7
* Colborne lost all 9

3. Rask:

Rask made at least 8 bell-ringing saves and kept them in this game

4. Bruins Urgency:

B’s finally showed urgency in third period and outshot Leafs 17-6

5. Bartkowski/Lucic:

Bartkowski is the best Bruin skater / Lucic second (I would trade him tonight – his value never higher {don’t respond ‘I know you can’t trade him in the playoffs’}) / Also Lucic had 7 hits

6. Marchand/Seguin:

Marchand doesn’t seem to have the same bounce right now, a little slow – hmmmmm? Seguin should spend less time with his shirt off standing on bars and start skating

7. Jagr:

Jagr looked like an old man leaning on a walker

8. Empty shots:

Jagr, Seguin and Marchand 0-8 on shots

9. Dougie Hamilton:

Hamilton looked awfully nervous handling the puck

10. Misc:

* Bad effort on National Anthem – lot of people right back to old form not singing and checking how much beer they have left
* Does Kelly get suspended for elbow of on Van Riemsdyk?
* How many people left the Garden?
* What do all those people watching outside in Toronto do now?
* Jack Edwards being scrapped off the ceiling as we speak
* Chara 35:46 ice time
* The Garden is rocking, team and viewer excited and NESN sends out Naoko Funayama sounding like Mini Mouse asking some cliché’ question
* Pop up pass not used enough allowed attacking players to skate under puck
* By the way I meant to mention this Monday – the self pass and bat out of the air – that Rask saved – by Mikhail Grabovski would have been the greatest goal in NHL history if it went in
* Get ready for hating on New York again and their screaming, enraged coach!

  1. * Glad to see you gave Tuukka some love (finally!). I think his stick save in OT on Lupul has gone under the radar.
    * I thought Lucic was great all series, but he was an animal in the 3rd period. His periods of apparent hibernation are infuriating, but this series showed why the Bruins are in no rush to trade him. When right, he has a unique combination of size, speed, skill, & anger. Tough to get equal value for that.
    * Obvious but Chara carried the defense.
    * Krejci is the most under-appreciated athlete in Boston when you look at his post-season play for his entire career.
    * Everyone says they knew the B’s would win when get when it went to OT. Not me. I must admit when Perverly couldn’t settle a bouncing puck in the slot with 10-seconds left in regulation, I thought that was an omen that they had let the opportunity pass. Happy to be wrong (again!).
    * Dave Goucher, who is 10-times better than Jack Edwards, had a great call of Bergeron’s winning goal on radio.
