Connelly’s Top Ten: Thanks for the Fun Run Bruins

Bruins flag (AP Photo/Charles Krupa)

1. General:

* The Bruins are one of the most likeable teams in memory

* Not often do you see both goalies pulled within a 20 second period

* Inexcusable this day and age to have bad ice

* Shouldn’t have been up only 1-0 after one period

* Comeback against Toronto was one for the ages

* You can never question their effort

2. Offense:

* A lot of missed nets

* Haven’t seen so many pucks leave the ice since Bobby Schmautz

* Lucic won 7 of 9 faceoffs

* I thought they got too conservative with lead late

* In 22 games – Seguin and Jagr combined for 1 goal

3. Defense:

* Krug’s best skating game since Toronto

* Chara 30 shifts

* Lucic played hard but was late on the backcheck on the tying goal

* 16 shots for Chicago in third period to Bruins 7

4. Blackhawks:

* Duncan Kieth is a superstar

* They are not unlikeable (except Shaw)

* Kane MVP – hope he doesn’t beat up any taxi drivers tonight

5. Officials:

* Not often do you see a team get four straight penalties in an elimination game

* Are officials supposed to stop play with player down in his defensive end or if the goalie’s mask strap comes off?

6. NBC:

* Still not great with replays

* Like the Coors commercials delivering beers from the ice cold

7. Other:

* That stinks

8. Crowd:

* They were wired and ready to go

* Surprised how many Blackhawk fans in lower bowl

9. Injuries:

* Jagr looked like the morning after five scoripion bowls at the Hong Kong

* Toews and Bergeron came back from what seemed season ending injuries to impact and skate 53 shifts

* Horton was never the same

10. Randomocity:

* In the Patriots two Super Bowl losses, Celtics loss to Lakers in Game 7 and Game 6 for Bruins – home team had leads

* Bruins done / Patriots have no receivers / Red Sox can’t close any games / Celtics are rebuilding and heading for the lottery

* Hernandez thought he was getting a lot of attention before

* Rene Rancourt needs Tommy John after four fist pumps

* Bruins are back to camp in three months

* Peverley, Ference and Horton all toast (if it was me I would trade Seguin and Lucic while they have value)
