Will Middlebrooks matched a Pawtucket Red Sox franchise record Wednesday night in a 11-5 win over Scranton, the Triple-A affiliate of the New York Yankees.
Middlebrooks finished the game with a record-tying 8 RBI going 4-for-5, with two home runs, one of which was a grand slam and the other being a 3-run home run. Middlebrooks also had a double and a single in the game, finishing a triple shy of the cycle.
Since being optioned to Pawtucket, Middlebrooks has performed well. In seven games, Middlebrooks is hitting .333 with 4 homers and 13 RBI. The time down in the minors seems to be working well for the young Middlebrooks.
During his time in Boston this year, Middlebrooks was barely hitting over .200. Hopefully Middlebrooks can continue to swing a hot bat for the PawSox and regain his confidence.
Sox fans need not to forget that he was the reason that Red Sox favorite Kevin Youkilis was let go.
