6. Dennard:

Our newest submission for biggest idiot local athlete goes to cop-punching, boozing, no-good punk Alfonzo Dennard. You idiot, go back to Nebraska and stay there – you’re not welcome in New England anymore (let’s see if the Patriots keep to their word)

7. Amazing Stats:

Jim Rice and Fred Lynn in 1977:

PLAYER…….RUNS…..HR…..RBI…..AVG…..MVP Voting
* Lynn………116……..39…..122…..333………4th
* Rice ………117……..39…..130…..325………5th

8. Old School:

How about some Fred Lynn stuff (underrated Boston player):

* Playing for Red Sox – 944-3062 (.308) / Other teams – 1016 – 3863 (.263)
* Never played over 150 games in any of his 17 seasons
* Hit .347 at Fenway for career / .264 everywhere else

9. Just a Little Bit Outside:

I’m sorry more traffic talk – reasons for insane traffic – two theories posed to me:

* Since Marathon and train derailment people afraid to take public transportation
* Unemployment down in Massachusetts
* Whatever it is – Google Boston Traffic at 4:30 any day and there is red and yellow lines on every highway

10. Randomocity:

* Mark Fidrych is underrated story in baseball folklore
* Where is Ryan Kalish?
* Best Disney movie – Snow White over Beauty and the Beast
* M & M’s boring
* Other than the Swizzle Inn what is there to do in Bermuda
* Alfonzo Dennard got thrown out of the Capital Bowl for fighting
* Other than Welfleet, what’s the best beach in Massachusetts – Plum Island?

  2. I think that the parade like escort of Whitey Bulger and the Marathon bomber in and out of the courthouse downtown has caused a ton of delays as well. Traffic is insane!
    I don’t care if M&Ms are boring – they’re wicked good.
    Psyched to see the post today.

    REPLY – MPC – Good point on traffic – city has been turned upside down

  3. Rabbit Maranville, Mark Belanger, Stuffy McInnes, Jeff Bagwell, Fred Tenney, Pie Traynor all born in MA, all played more games in the majors than Richie Hebner. I may have missed a few more.

    REPLY – MPC – As I stated before – I took from Massachusetts list on Baseball Reference.com – must have sorted list wrong

  4. Michael, you forgot Tony Conigliaro. How could you? Played 876 MLB games of which 802 were in a Red Sox uniform.

    Love reading your stuff Michael! Bought your book, The Great Book of Boston Sports Lists at the Providence airport. GREAT read!

    REPLY – MPC – Its interesting that Baseball Reference didn’t list Tony C under Massachusetts – thanks for the nice words on the book
