Looks like Deion Branch is not the only NFL player to publicly show support for former Patriots tight end, Aaron Hernandez. Hernandez, who has been jailed without bail pending trial on a first degree murder, is receiving support from some old teammates and no, it is not Tim Tebow.
Twins Mike and Maurkice Pouncey, members of the Miami Dolphins and Pittsburgh Steelers respectively, were recently photographed wearing “Free Hernandez” hats at a nightclub in support of their friend.
The two brothers were teammates of Hernandez at The University of Florida and even more intimately, Mike was roommates with Hernandez. Even more interesting is the fact the brothers were spotted with Hernandez during a 2007 shooting in Gainesville in which Hernandez was first identified as the shooter but his name later retracted. The two brothers are standing by their friend who they firmly believe is innocent until proven guilty.
It will be very interesting to see how the Dolphins and Steelers respond to the situation, if at all.
