Body of Former Red Sox Pitcher Frank Castillo Found in Arizona Lake

Frank Castillo

The body of former Red Sox pitcher Frank Castillo was pulled from a lake near Phoenix, Arizona on Monday.

Castillo, 44, was pulled out of Bartlett Lake. He had apparently drowned.

Family members and friends said Castillo wasn’t a very good swimmer, and when he jumped off a boat Sunday, he never resurfaced.

Castillo was 82-104 over 13 major league seasons with the Cubs, Rockies, Tigers, Blue Jays, Red Sox and Marlins. He was 16-24 with a 4.66 ERA over his first two seasons with the Sox.

He returned to pitch in two games in 2004, ultimately collecting a World Series ring when the team won it all.
