Connelly’s Top Ten: Duck Boats Ready

1. Red Sox Redux:

* I would never pay another player over $17mm a season
* How long before Ben Cherrington has to start feeding the monster
* Was that the best audience at a Boston sporting event ever – maybe matching the heat game against the Lakers in 1984
* Does Scott Boras care about his clients?
* Would you trade Jackie Bradley and John Lester for Buster Posey / or would you make a run at Tulowitzki / How about if Angels picked up half the salary of Pujols
* Under the premise sell high do you move Lester and Lackey this offseason at their highest value
* Do you go after Starlin Castro of the Cubs who had a down year and Theo has a top ten prospect at SS in minors Javier Baez

2. Patriots preview:

  1. Why do the Sox need to trade for a SS like Castro or Tulo with Bogaerts aboard? A catcher or power-hitting OF, we can talk.

REPLY – MPC – who is playing third?

  2. No on dealing Lester and Lackey.

Zero chance the SF Giants deal Posey. He’s the face of the franchise. They have won two titles with him behind the plate.

No on Pujols, not that the Angels would be dealing him anyway. Let him stay and suffer in Orange County.

I’m open for a Bradley Jr. deal.

Will Ortiz look for an extension this winter?

  3. fair question on cherington. the ownership seemed to have their hands off this year, and let the baseball people do their thing. it will be interesting to see if that becomes a trend. i would hope they learned their lesson the past 30 months or so. they were perilously close to losing a fan base, and now look where they are in a single season by taking a step back.

  4. also, i’m going to argue that the return to health of gronk and vereen is more of a key than collie, as it relates to the offense!

REPLY – MPC – I’m just looking for a go who can catch the 7 yard out

  5. Wait – why are we dealing Bradley? He’s our centerfielder.

  6. I really liked the Tom Swift and Chip Hilton series as a kid. Heck, I even read Cherry Ames and The Bobbsey Twins! Not to mention Nancy Drew…

REPLY – MPC – I read the Bronc Burnett books which I recently found on ebay and read again
