Most of us have seen this video of Hulk Hogan stating that he is in the New England Patriots’ corner of the ring as we begin the playoffs against the Colts on Saturday. Thanks for the endorsement, Mr. Hogan. After all your time in Florida I thought you would be a Buccaneers fan. I do not know how this bodes well for us given how far Hogan’s star has fallen in the last 5-10, meh, maybe 20 years? I think this may be a harbinger of bad things to come. Patriot Nation does not need any bad juju as we watched our team bite, kick (field goal after field goal), and scratch its way to the playoffs.
I realize we all need something to believe in and the Hulk believes in us, but why? Well, it appears that we have Patriot tight end, Matthew Mulligan to possibly blame if the game goes downhill on Saturday. Mulligan was, and still is, a big fan of the Hogan. His wife reportedly purchased a Hulk Hogan championship wrestling belt from Hogan’s Beach Shop last week. Mulligan idolized him as a kid and told ESPN that he was downright “giddy” that Hulk mentions him in the video. I’m a 34-year-old woman and I haven’t used the word giddy in… well… ever.
Bottom Line: Patriot Nation really does need all the help it can get, but do we need the help of washed-up wrestler trying to scare the other team with a fake pre-fight WWE promo that harkens back to the 1980s? I don’t think so. Let’s leave the public relations to the professionals. Yes, we are all excited, but we really do not need any opportunistic sideshows taking focus away from all that this team has on the line next weekend.
