Former Red Sox (Kinda) Adam LaRoche Kills Catamount

Former (for all of six games) Red Sox first baseman Adam LaRoche bagged a mountain lion with a bow. Because why not? (Photo courtesy of Sports Illustrated)

Okay, so Adam LaRoche appeared all of six games with the Boston Red Sox during the 2009 season, one of three teams he played for that year. The Red Sox acquired him from the Pittsburgh Pirates before the trade deadline, only to flip him to the Atlanta Braves nine days later. He accrued five hits in 19 at bats with a home run and three RBIs.

Big deal.

I’m still taking advantage of however tenuous a connection it is to Boston sports to admire — and share — his handiwork with a crossbow (yup, that’s a mountain lion slung across his back). You should at least check out the photo first, but if those six games aren’t Boston enough for you, he apparently likes to go hunting with New England Patriots offensive lineman Matt Light (and one of the guys from Duck Dynasty, for the record — no big deal).

This weekend, though, hopefully Light will be doing more metaphorical Colt killing and leave the literal catamount hunting to LaRoche. (Too bad the Pats aren’t playing the Panthers…)
