2014 NFL Playoffs Expert Picks: Divisional Round

Carolina is well-rested from its bye, but now has to face a San Francisco squad similarly known for great defense and a dynamic quarterback. (sacurrent.com)

The NFL is down to its final eight teams, and after the first round, expect big things this weekend. Denver looks to overpower the upstart Chargers, New England looks to continue their rivalry against the Colts, Seattle and New Orleans lock up in a classic offense vs defense battle and the 49ers and Panthers dual with defense and quarterbacks.

In the spirit of Colts/Chiefs from Wildcard Weekend, the AFC is predicted by our panel to produce two shootouts, while the NFC looks to be more tactical. And like the first round, home-field doesn’t guarantee anything.

Scoring will work as in the first round:

  • Picking the winner of a game is worth two points.
  • Picking the total number of touchdowns scored by both teams combined is worth one point if guessed to within one, or two points if guessed exactly right.
  • Picking the yards thrown for by each game’s top passer (one top-throwing quarterback only) is worth one point if guessed to within 50, or two points if guessed to within 10, or five points if guessed exactly right.

So now that that’s out of the way, check below for the complete picks for the Divisional round, and come back Sunday to see how things went.
