According to a report from Fox 25 Boston’s Ted Daniel, Aaron Hernandez’s former barber, Robby Olivares, could be called to testify against his former client and friend.
Two days before Hernandez was arrested, Olivares made a house call to Hernandez’s North Attleboro home. Now that relationship and loyalty is being put to the test as Olivares could become a key witness for the prosecution.
Hernandez has been behind bars since June on a first-degree murder charge in the death of Odin Lloyd. Although the case against Hernandez seemed strong at first, the case has since weakened a bit as the credibility of Carlos Ortiz, one of the prosecution’s key witnesses, was called into question since his story of the night of the murder has changed several times. Prosecutors are now looking to another key testimony to solidify their case against the former Patriot.
Prosecutors believe Olivares may have knowledge of what went down between Hernandez and Lloyd two nights before Lloyd’s murder at Rumor nightclub in Boston. Prosecutors alleged Olivares attended the nightclub with Hernandez and overheard a heated exchange that led Hernandez to loose trust in Lloyd. They believe the disagreement was the motive for Lloyd’s murder. Prosecutors are hoping Olivares could be a credible witness and provide inside information of the exchange between Hernandez and Lloyd, information that could be a significant part in determining the outcome of the case because it would provide a motive in the murder of Lloyd.
Nothing has yet linked Olivares to any criminal action. It is also important to remember it was Olivares that led the grand jury to Hernandez’s secret apartment in Franklin so his loyalty to Hernandez has already been tested.
