Defensive tackle Vince Wilfork, who has spent the first 10 seasons of his career with the Patriots, has reportedly asked to be released, according to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport.
Rapoport reports that the Patriots asked Wilfork once to restructure his contract, but Wilfork refused and the two sides haven’t talked contract since.
Wilfork, 32, is coming off a torn Achilles injury that limited him to only four games played last season. He is on the hook for more than $11 million this season, so it would make sense for the Patriots to try and restructure the deal.
We shall see what happens next…
