Connelly’s Top Ten: Bruins Take a 3-1 Lead

1. Bruins
* Taking both in Joe Louis Arena – good stuff
* Nothing better than NHL playoffs
* How can Marchand “Wesley-it” twice? (he lost every one on one battle)
* Iginla looks like an old man on the ice – worst Bruin this series
* Lucic looks so bad when he is coasting – should divide his game check up by shifts
* How fun would it be to watch Datsyuk 82 nights a year
* I would fine any player who misses the net more than 33% of the time
* Jack Edwards just set the record for saying “lively boards”
* Does Thornton ever skate with two hands on the stick?

2. Red Sox stats and stuff – bad karma, bad chemistry, bad play – shake it up right now:
* Red Sox are 5-8 at home
* Five errors are you kidding me
* Red Sox are on pace to steal 61 bases this year
* Season is 14% completed
* Red Sox are on pace to hit 14 triples (Jim Rice had 15 by himself in 1977 AND 1978)
* Mike Carp and Johnnie Gomes are below average left fielders
* Jacoby void – Center fielders are hitting .213
* Sox are hitting .215 with runners in scoring position (Carp .077 / Nava .091 / Bogaerts .150 / Ortiz .176)
* Leadoff hitters are hitting .303 against Sox
* Jackie Bradley now has 156 at bats and is at .199 (create value and trade him)

8. Old School – The last home game for the Red Sox in 1966
* 69-86

  1. Haven’t eaten Ruffles since the release of Wavy Lays.

    Great stuff from Ed Norton.

    REPLY – MPC – Norton is creeping into my top five – on fire / give Wavy Lays a shot

  2. At the end of April 2007, Dustin Pedroia had batted 144 times in the majors and had a .187 batting average. He was the same age as Bradley is now, and his minor league numbers were not as impressive as Bradley’s. Bradley is going to be fine. His major league offensive production should be on a par with Ellsbury or Pedroia, and he will play a gold glove quality center field. Patience!

    REPLY – MPC – Are you predicting he will hit .250 the rest of the year – how about a wager for blanket fund?
