The Celtics may be in “love” with another Kevin from the Minnesota Timberwolves, and according to Yahoo!’s Adrian Wojnarowski, they could have the pieces to get it done.
The report states that the Celtics lottery draft pick could be enough to jump-start a Love trade package, which would likely include Jared Sullinger, Kieth Bogans and other expiring contracts.
Before the lottery, the Celtics have the No. 5 pick in a deep NBA Draft, and could move as high as No. 1 or as low as No. 8 in Tuesday’s lottery.
Wojnarowski reports that the Rockets, Warriors, Suns, Bulls and Lakers could all make runs at Love. He says the Rockets could make a strong run at Love with interesting young players (like Omer Asik) and the allure of playing for coach Kevin McHale and with Dwight Howard and James Harden.
The Celtics, though, have the most chips on the table, with nine first-round picks (thanks to the Nets and Clippers) over the next few years, a ton of cap space and trade exceptions, a chance to play with Rajon Rondo and valuable assets in Kelly Olynk and Sullinger.
Love, 25, averaged 26.1 points and 12.5 rebounds per game this past season.
