As general manager Danny Ainge and the Boston Celtics scout potential lottery picks in the 2014 NBA Draft, Kevin Love may be doing some scouting of his own.
Rumor has it that Love is in Boston this weekend, touring the city, catching a Red Sox game (assuredly drawing a raucous cheer from the Fenway Faithful when he is inevitably shown on the scoreboard), and — begin rampant speculation — seeing if Beantown may be a suitable landing spot as he all but forces the Minnesota Timberwolves to trade him to another city. How else are Celtics fans supposed to interpret “I’m just here to check out the city and see what it’s like”???
Of course, reports also indicate he’ll probably tour some other cities with franchises able to make a play for the disgruntled three-time All-Star. Other likely destinations on the Summer of Love Tour would include Los Angeles, Oakland/San Francisco, and Chicago, with perhaps New York and Phoenix also on the map for the sake of thoroughness.
Boston, it seems, is at the top of his list — at least if you care to interpret his first stop this offseason as an indication of his priorities for ideal landing spots.
For Celtics fans looking for further reasons to giddily speculate that Love wants to end up wearing Celtic green, he also apparently hung out with cornerback Darrelle Revis, the shiny new offseason acquisition for the New England Patriots:
Revis was one of the fellows hanging out with Kevin Love last night in Boston BTW

As much as I’m trying not to get caught up in a story that almost certainly has no real legs, it can’t be bad that Love is spending time with a fellow star athlete who decided in his free agency to join the Boston sports family.
So put on your makeup and be on your best (or worst) behavior, Boston — we have a Love to woo.
