The Red Sox dealt a starting pitcher on Wednesday — no, not that one.
Boston traded lefty Felix Doubront to the Chicago Cubs for a player to be named later. That player will be sent to the Red Sox after the Rule 5 Draft and is expected to be a low-level prospect.
Doubront has been pretty bad this season, accumulating a 6.04 ERA in 17 games (10 starts).
He recently expressed frustration with his current role in a crowded pitching staff, and now he’s gone to make room for the kids.
Doubront is 26-22 with a 4.86 ERA over his five-year career.
