The first ever Wildcard round is now in the books, and it started off with plenty of controversy. Despite committing three errors, the Braves were launching a comeback in the 8th, when a fly ball to shallow left was put under the infield fly rule despite a long ways to go for the shortstop and miscommunication between short and left. That killed off the momentum as fans littered the field with whatever they could throw. But Joe Torre denied Atlanta’s protest based on the ump’s judgement call (which didn’t come until the ball was just about on the ground), and the Cardinals advance. The Orioles also advance, but under MUCH less fanfare.
That leads us to the best-of-five divisional round series, but before that, we present to you the results of the Wildcard Round Pick ‘Em. So check below for the results, and check back later in the evening for the next round’s picks: Continue reading 2012 MLB Playoffs Expert Picks: Wildcard Round Results »

45 long years after Carl Yastrzemski won baseball’s Triple Crown, Miguel Cabrera just clinched the 16th such award in history.
Cabrera finished the season with 44 home runs, 139 RBIs, and a .330 batting average. Numbers worthy of MVP consideration, without a doubt. Consideration, you ask? Yes.
Why would a Triple Crown winner only be considered for the league’s MVP award? Why would Mike Trout be getting more MVP buzz than Cabrera?
Because Cabrera’s historic season was just that: historic. Continue reading Miguel Cabrera Wins Elusive Triple Crown. So? »

The regular season is now over, and it included two divisions decided on the final day. And it included another sizable September collapse, this time by Texas. Fortunately for the two-time defending AL champs, Texas is still hosting the Wildcard game. The Athletics and Orioles surprised everyone, while the Nationals and Reds didn’t catch everyone by surprise, but their position as the two best teams in baseball sure did. The defending champion Cardinals held off the Dodgers late, and the Red Sox were harder to swallow than peanuts to the allergic.
But I’m sure everyone is waiting to hear how our experts fared with their predictions. This time, it was quite close. So without further ado, the winner of the 2012 MLB Pick ‘Em is… Continue reading 2012 MLB Expert Picks Results »
