Spurs vs Pacers: Week 18's prediction for the NBA Finals

The NBA season is reaching its climax, yet only two teams have clinched spots. For that matter, no teams have been mathematically eliminated, at least for the moment. The West is as strong as it’s been in recent memory, including three teams not in the brackets that would be if they were suddenly transplanted to the East. That means no easy rides for anyone in the West, leaving an interesting Finals for what will likely be either Indiana or Miami. That doesn’t mean either should take anyone for granted, nor should any other team do the same with plenty to be decided, so let’s look at what would happen if the playoffs started as of Thursday, March 13, before the day’s games: Continue reading If the Playoffs Started Today – NBA Week 18 »

With just about 20 games left, teams are still having a difficult time separating themselves from the rest of the pack. The All-Star game is just days away, yet it’s rather difficult for any team to find a niche, especially in the middle of the conferences. Indiana and OKC are even fighting with each other over home-court advantage. Teams are still pushing each other this way and that with every passing day. It’s a tough time to be a bubble team, so let’s look at what would happen if the playoffs started as of Thursday, February 14, before the day’s games: Continue reading If the Playoffs Started Today – NBA Week 15 »

Pacers vs Thunder: Week 14's prediction for the NBA Finals

The All-star break is only a week away, and other than the top teams, the contenders are stepping all over each other in an effort to get a better seed and home-court advantage. The standings are clogged up, too, so there’s lots of wiggle room. Much is still to be decided, so let’s look at what would happen if the playoffs started as of Thursday, February 6, before the day’s games: Continue reading If the Playoffs Started Today – NBA Week 14 »

Kelly Olynyk, Jared Sullinger

The participants in the NBA All-Star Weekend’s Rising Stars Challenge were announced on Wednesday, and big men Kelly Olynyk and Jared Sullinger will represent the Celtics at the game, which will take place on February 14 at the Pelicans’ New Orleans Arena.

The 2014 edition will be the third since the game’s format was changed. It used to pit the rookies against the second-year players, but the last two years the participants were drafted by Charles Barkley and Shaquille O’Neal into their respective teams. The particulars of this year’s game haven’t been announced yet, but it is expected to continue in the same vein. Nine rookies and nine sophomores were chosen.
