Girlfriend Arrested For Biting Al Jefferson

Al Jefferson is a lot of things: former Celtic, good rebounder, good defender, tall. But I imagine he’s not very tasty.

Well, maybe I should tell that to his 38-year-old (yes, 38!) girlfriend Shirley Lewis, who bit the current Jazz forward/center in the back.

Lewis, who was listed at 5’7″ and 170 pounds, is charged with assault and domestic violence in the presence of a child, both class B misdemeanors, according to the Salt Lake Tribune.

“The police department was called to a residence [Thursday] night on a report of domestic violence,” said Cottonwood Heights Sgt. Dan Bartlett. “Officers arrived and determined that domestic violence was in fact committed and arrested a female.”

Jefferson left the Celtics in the monster trade that brought Kevin Garnett to Boston. He averaged 18.6 points and 9.7 rebounds last season.

TMZ: Manny Ramirez Arrested for Domestic Violence

According to reports, former Red Sox outfielder, Manny Ramirez, has been arrested for alleged domestic violence. Ramirez was taken in handcuffs from his home in Weston, Florida. He’s been charged with battery.

Reaction

I’m not even going to try making a “Manny being Manny” joke. Manny is such a destructive human being. At every possible opportunity he never refrains from doing something incredibly stupid. He ruined his legacy with the Red Sox and ruined his legacy as a player by taking illegal substances.

He constantly let his teammates down, and now he’s allegedly committed domestic violence. Great hitter; not so great role model.

Video: Marquis Daniels’ Stepfather Tasered, Arrested

In case you haven’t heard, the stepfather of Marquis Daniels was arrested and Tasered during Game 2 of the Celtics-Magic series on Wednesday night. Yes, Tasered…because he was resisting arrest.

The altercation began when the man, Willie L. Buie, was taunted and hollered at by Magic fans. The argument spilled into the stands, where Buie was arrested and brought out of the arena. In a hallway away from the court, Buie was Tasered while resisting arrest, and it was all caught on cell phone video. Unfortunately, any video related to the incident is unable to be embedded within this post.

Oh, and in case you were wondering, Daniels has not played in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Corey Dillon Arrested for Drunk Driving in California

TMZ.com has reported that former Patriots running back Corey Dillon was arrested on drunk driving charges in Malibu, California at around 3:38 a.m. PST on Wednesday. He remains in custody.

Meanwhile, Dillon’s wife filed for divorce earlier this month citing irreconcilable differences. They’ve been married for 10 years and have three children, but his wife Desiree has had enough.

The 35-year-old Dillon last played in the NFL for the Patriots in 2006. In his three years with the team, Dillion tallied at least 12 touchdowns each season. In his memorable first season with the team (that included a Super Bowl win), Dillon ran for a team-record and career-high 1,635 yards on 345 carries and 12 touchdowns.

He came to the Patriots with a bad reputation for his off-the-field antics, so his recent trouble with the law and with his wife comes as no surprise.

Al Jefferson Arrested for Drunk Driving, Charged with DWI

Former Celtics center Al Jefferson, the key piece in the trade that landed Kevin Garnett in 2007, was arrested on drunk driving charges on early Sunday morning. Jefferson, who was charged with fourth degree driving while impaired (a misdemeanor), scored a team-high 19 points with 11 rebounds in Minnesota’s 110-91 loss to the Blazers on Saturday night.

Jefferson was pulled over for speeding (he was going 56 mph in a 40-mph zone) and erratic driving. The trooper saw Jefferson change lanes without using a turn signal, and saw his car drifting to the left. After a field sobriety test, Jefferson was arrested and was given a blood test.

While police were not permitted to give out Jefferson’s blood-alcohol level, they did indicate that it was over the .08 limit.

Big Al was released from jail shortly after 4 a.m. and will be back in court for a hearing on April 23.

Patriots Mascot Arrested in Sex Sting

Pat Patriot roams the endzone every home game at Gillette Stadium, and now one of his human counterparts has been arrested in a sex sting.

Robert Sormanti of Warwick, Rhode Island, was one of 14 people arrested under a new law that banned indoor prostitution. They were arrested at Rhode Island hotel.

From the AP:

The bill signed into law in November made prostitution a misdemeanor crime regardless of where it occurs. Previously, indoor prostitution was allowed because of a legal loophole.

The Patriots said in a statement that multiple people wear the mascot costume and that the “individual in question” has been suspended.

First, the Celtics fired Lucky. Now, Pat Patriot has been arrested in a sex sting. What’s next? Wally the Green Monster will be arrested selling weed (hence the “Green” in his name) at Fenway?

Antoine Walker Arrested While Gambling in Nevada Casino

Former Celtics forward Antoine Walker owes Caesars Palace, Planet Hollywood, and the Red Rock Resort casinos in Las Vegas $822,500. He accumulated this sum over a seven-month period by getting $100,000 loans from these casinos. Thus far, he has only paid back $178,000. A warrant for his arrest was issued July 14 for writing bad checks, and authorities took him in the next day from Harrah’s Casino in Lake Tahoe, Nevada. Walker was in Tahoe for a charity event, but obviously could not stay away from the lure of the gambling world.

He earned over $100 million during his 12-year career in the NBA. How can a multi-millionaire be in that much debt? His luck on the basketball court obviously did not transfer over to the tables.

The past few years have been rough for Walker. In 2007, he was robbed at gunpoint at his home in Chicago and had a Mercedes, jewelry, and cash (totaling close to $200,000), stolen from him. This year has clearly not been any easier for him. This past January, he was arrested for drunk driving in Miami Beach. However difficult this time has been for him on and off of the court, it still does not explain how anyone can blow through that much money.

Walker’s legal troubles and his own sluggishness on the court are going to limit his chances of being signed by an NBA team. In his earlier years playing in Boston, he managed to land himself in NBA record books with other past legends, ranking in the top ten for field goals in Celtics history and top 100 for three-point field goals. His success while playing for the Celtics did not carry over to Miami or Minnesota: his final two NBA destinations.

Former Miami heat coach Pat Riley suspended Walker from several games due to an issue of excess body fat. His inability to keep his body in peak condition began to affect his performance on the court. Was he trying to start the former pro-athlete diet early?

After moving to Minnesota, he could hardly play, getting in 46 games last season. Walker was traded to the Grizzlies in 2009, only making his luck worse. The Grizzles waived their rights to him, giving him the chance to be a free agent. However, not many NBA franchises are jumping at the bit to have an out-of-shape forward when they can pluck a new one from college.

What caused the downfall of Antoine Walker? Perhaps, being thrown around like a rag doll between teams slowly ate away at his confidence, or he took too much black jack advice from Charles Barkley and Michael Jordan. I would pick the latter of the two.
