This past week has shaken up the NHL standings, with more certainly shaking to come. We have two new #1 seeds, the Bruins are back in it, and the Blackhawks and Blue Jackets are tied, amongst other teams jockeying for position. In fact, the division leaders have seven, four, three, two, one, and zero point […]
It’s been quite a start to the 2009-2010 hockey season. The Buffalo Sabres now sit atop the Northeast division, and the Coyotes, after the whole “let’s see if we can sell the team” thing, are right there in the hunt. Four teams are worse than the Islanders, and the injury riddled Bruins are struggling to […]
In a hard fought contest, the Bruins took a 4-2 loss to the Blue Jackets to conclude their preseason. The 1st period saw quick scoring as Matthew Calvert of Columbus slipped one through the legs of Boston goalie Tuukka Rask (best name ever) at just 2:42 into the game. Three and a half minutes in, […]
The regular season is almost here. The Bruins are 3-1-1 (7 out of 10 points; not bad) in the preseason with three games left to play (in Montreal, in Ottawa, and at home against Columbus). Boston defeated Montreal on Sunday, should easily take out Ottawa, and took Columbus to the limit Tuesday. 6-1-1 for the […]
The Bruins and Blue Jackets are set to square off Saturday night in the final preseason game, and if Tuesday’s game is any indication (a 6-5 Blue Jackets win via the shootout), we’re in for a shootout not seen since the OK Corral. The regular season is only days away, and things will need to shape […]
Is it time for the Bruins to panic? Not quite, but this recent trend of losing has to be disconcerting. The last thing the B’s needed was to face dominant goaltender Steve Mason, who is looking to lead the Blue Jackets to their first playoff berth in their eight-year history. Mason delivered Tuesday night, earning […]
The Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday acquired defenseman Jonathan Sigalet from the Boston Bruins in exchange for the rights to left wing Matt Marquardt. A fourth-round pick of the Bruins in 2005, the 22-year-old Sigalet has appeared in just one NHL game.
The Bruins are continuing to surprise everyone as they collected another two points last night, against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Alex Auld was excellent, again, and the B’s might have found an excellent one-two punch in net. But, let’s wait to see how it will pan out. Auld and Thomas are playing very good hockey […]
