Green With Envy

It’s no secret that Red Sox pitching has been a bit bleak lately. Josh Beckett has gone from the team’s Ace to their Joker. If he’s any worse, he’ll be the “Rules for Draw and Stud Poker” card. Hideki Okajima and Takashi Saito have been ho-hum out of the pen. Tim Wakefield is injured too much to […]

Tazawa Among Red Sox September Call-Ups

The Red Sox called up five players from the minor leagues Tuesday, the first day that rosters expand. Junichi Tazawa, George Kottaras, Chris Woodward, Brian Anderson, and Joey Gathright will be joining the Red Sox for the September stretch run. Junichi Tazawa, SP Tazawa was sent down to Single-A just to make room for Paul […]

Red Sox Send Down Tazawa, Call Up McBeth

The Red Sox sent down starter Junichi Tazawa Saturday, and called up reliever Marcus McBeth, who last pitched in the major leagues in 2007 with the Reds. Tazawa was 2-3 with a 6.65 ERA in five games (four starts), and will probably be back in September. For now, he was sent to the Rookie-Level Gulf […]

Green Makes Pitching Debut, but Boston Falls to Chicago

With the Yankees dropping another game to the Rangers, the Red Sox looked to gain momentum on New York while keeping Texas at bay. However, giving up nine runs in three innings did not help as the White Sox handed Boston a 9-5 loss. Starter Junichi Tazawa was not in prime form and with several relievers […]

Red Sox Looking Wild

After another Red Sox/Yankees series the Sox have once again fallen on tough times and are now pretty much looking to just secure a spot in the playoffs through the wild card. Boston had a decent week, which they started out rough after losing their lead in the wild card race to Texas, but gained […]

Sox Pummel Yanks in 14-1 Victory

After a slaughter in the previous game, the Red Sox were gearing up to exact some revenge on the Yankees. Behind some strong pitching and consistent bats, the Sox cruised to a 14-1 victory over their New York rivals. Sox starting pitcher Junichi Tazawa had a stellar game going six innings and giving up eight […]

Sox Can’t Grind Out Win in Texas Tie-Breaker

When Branch Rickey said that baseball was a game of inches, he knew what he was talking about. The Red Sox lost 4-3 in Texas Sunday; a tense, momentum-volleying game that would have seemed to the Sox of earlier this season, easily winnable. The Red Sox simply lacked sharpness in every phase of the game. […]

Emotions Soar As Sox Beat Tigers

After the Tigers scored three runs in the first, emotions got out of control as Kevin Youkilis was ejected in the second inning after being hit by a pitch by Detroit’s Rick Porcello and charging the mound. The bench-clearing brawl must have lit a spark for the Sox as Jason Bay hit a three-run shot over the monster […]

A-Rod Blasts Walk-Off HR in 15th

After waiting five hours and 33 minutes we finally saw some offense. Unfortunately for the Red Sox, it was off the bat of Alex Rodriguez as Boston continues to get burned by third basemen via the walk off home run in extra innings. You might remember Evan Longoria hitting a home run to beat the […]

Red Sox Sign Tazawa

Though it was widely known, the Red Sox officially signed 22-year-old Japanese pitcher Junichi Tazawa Thursday afternoon. He was inked to a three-year, $3 million deal. He will likely begin his professional baseball career in the minors for the Red Sox, but I’m sure he’ll be invited to Spring Training before the 2009 season.
